During the winter months the County squad have coaching sessions every other Monday evening at the Memorial Hall at Branch Road. On those alternate Mondays when the squad is not there the hall is still booked for archery but this time the coaching is provided by Bruce Lindsell and his team and is open to any archer who wishes to attend. The cost is £3 per session from 7:30pm until 10:00pm and a wide range of topics, from bow tuning to performance coaching, equipment checks to string making, in fact anything that the archer needs is catered for. All the dates can be found on the Diary page listed as Open Coaching. The full address is Memorial Hall, Branch Road, St. Albans.
If you are new to archery, you will need to complete a beginners' course before you can join a club. Courses are usually run over 4-6 weeks with each session lasting about 2 hours. All equipment is supplied. If you complete the course successfully, you will be given a certificate which allows you to apply for membership of any club affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society.
Children can be accepted on courses from the age of 8, although individual clubs may set a higher minimum age.
Beginners courses are run by most clubs in the county. However, please be aware that there may be a lengthy waiting list for places. For further information, please contact the clubs nearest to you.
